More Fun with Family and Friends

Cory, Kim, Ralph, and Lucy met us just outside Shenandoah National Park for a four-day stay at a wonderfully kid- and dog-friendly Airbnb. Ralph had his own attic room filled with great surprises (including a treasure hunt map), and Lucy had plenty of space to roam and explore.

Our visit was packed with activity—highlights included a nature hike where Ralph and Lucy splashed in a stream, a trip to Seven Bends State Park with its fantastic nature-inspired playground, and a hike up Paw Paw Hollow Trail (with Ralph being entertained by many stories on the way down). We also explored a cavern, enjoyed lunch at a local winery, and spent lots of time relaxing in the yard and sharing delicious meals.

With two car seats and six people, Grampsie drew the short straw—squeezing into the back and braving the bumps of the back roads!

A special moment came when Emee presented Ralph with the space quilt she had spent many hours making—it was a huge hit.

From there, we traveled up to Maryland to visit good friend and Kirkland College graduate, Lauren Greenberger. Lauren lives on 25 acres that she actively maintains, home to grazing cows and the base for her busy landscaping business. During our visit, we learned about a variety of new plants, along with their names and backgrounds.

Now we are on the final phase of our trip including stops in Connecticut and Rhode Island.
