Take Me Home Country Roads

Take Me Home Country Roads

Today we explored the New River Gorge National Park in West Virginia. NRG is the most recent National Park and has not yet been visited by Frank and Gail Perretta. Unlike Letchworth State Park, NRG is not an enclosed Park. You travel throughout the countryside visiting various Park locations.

The back roads to many locations are quite tight for Stargazer, but we made it without an incident. We got a much better feel for West Virginia and Appalachia. One of the most interesting locations was the Town of Thurmond. Now only a population of five, it was once a booming mine town with 20 train stops per day.

The pictures included are of Thurmond. I am standing in front of one of the two banks! Maybe we should invest some cash and get the 3%! Enjoy A Varied Reputation.

Otto and I took a hike up to a great NRG outlook. The last part of the hike was up a large rock with wooden steps. Otto required me too carry him up the steps! After a busy day we headed back to our RV site call RifRafters. Very hospitable and Stargazer has had no malfunctions.

  1. Maybe we should move to Thurmond with our friends and have a town all to ourselves! So glad you are having fun and looking forward to you being here soon! XO
