Stargazer Shines As Bright As Sirius

Stargazer Shines As Bright As Sirius

We started by indulging in delicious donuts from Heavenly Donuts. The drive from Red Bluff, CA to South Beach, OR was incredible, but required Stargazer to be able to handle curves, falling rocks, steep hills, and much more. Melinda and I fully share the driving and each day we were exhausted, as full concentration was critical.

Today we have been on the road for 30 days and we have been blessed with amazing weather. The only rain we experienced was in Peducha, KY. Some cold days. Some wind. But overall great weather has allowed us to truly experience all the wonderful places we have visited.

From Red Bluff, CA we drove Route 299 across California to Route 101 following north the coastline of California and Oregon. For two nights we stayed in the Redwood National Park at the Hiouchi RV Park and Cafe (the home of the 16 inch pancake). We hiked into redwood groves (amazing trees and trillium flowers), followed the Smith River, one of the cleanest rivers in the US, and took time out to visit the Battery Point Lighthouse (still active with people who live in BPL) in Crescent City, CA, and then to the Seaquake Brewery for some celebratory local beers!

I am a big Walter Mosley fan and during the evenings we finished watching The Last Days of Ptolemy Grey, starring Samuel L. Jackson. Great book. Great tv series. Amazing acting by Jackson and his supporting cast. I am now reading Mosley’s newest book, Every Man a King.

We traveled from the RNP up the Oregon Coast to South Beach where we celebrated making it from the east coast to the west coast. On the way we saw an array of sea stacks and extended beaches. We are now at the South Beach State Park getting ready to land in Portland Oregon where we will hang with Yogi, Sandy and JKTTTTTTT!!!
