Well I spoke too quickly. The morning after tossing bouquets at Stargazer for being an amazing ride, the troubles began. We woke up in the Grand Canyon and the parking brake would not disengage, the engine light was on, and our wheel sensors continued to not work. We figured out the brake, but had to travel to Flagstaff, AZ Mercedes Benz for repair support. The engine problem was identified and fixed, and this coming Monday we have to head back to Flagstaff to have the wheel sensors replaced.

With Stargazer back up and running we headed to Zion National Park. On the way we drove past Tuba City, AZ where good pal Paul Franklin and I once did LERN work. Our information was so appreciated that our final night we had the windows of our car smashed and the next day had to drive to the airport through snow in our windowless ride!

We arrived in Zion National Park from the east around 6 pm. To get to our campground we had to drive through the Park, including a long tunnel where Stargazer’s dimensions just fit. The campground was one of our best yet and our spot was right on the water. The next day we explored ZNP and marveled at the rock formations.

We then traveled to Boulder, UT to visit good friends Jay and Susan Kelly. If you ever travel to Utah, DO NOT MISS driving Scenic Route 12. Boulder is a town of 200 people at the base of the Escalante Staircase so Susan and I got in some great hikes. One was to what we now affectionately call Greg’s Hump and our most strenuous was a 12 mile in and out trip on the Boulder Mail Trail to Death Hollow. The views on the hike went from good, to great, to amazing, to magnificent and finally spectacular.

While Susan and I hiked, Melinda and Jay worked on additional Stargazer repairs. Jay is our RV Go-To Guy and as usual he has been a savior. Otherwise we have been washing clothes, getting caught up, and resting up for the balance of our trip. Monday we head to Flagstaff and then begin our journey back to Jackson.
