Some Stories from the Road
We left Sanibel last Wednesday and do we have stories to tell!!!
Story #1: From Sanibel we drove to Crystal City. When we arrived at out Harvest Host location we realized our air conditioning was not working. Why? We turned to RV Guru, Jay Kelly, and after 24 hours of troubleshooting we realized a certain member of the Stargazer Team had not plugged back in our electric line. You know that person was not Melinda!
Story #2: Originally we had hoped to camp at Grayton State Park on the Florida panhandle, but had no luck booking a spot. Instead of heading to our Harvest Host (a barbecue joint), we decided to visit Grayton Beach and hope for a lucky break. We rolled lucky sevens and got in! What an amazing spot. We are going back next year!
Story #3. From Grayton Beach we traveled to Montgomery where we visited multiple museums. The Legacy Museum was overwhelming, humbling but amazing. From slave trading to incarceration, we experienced a shameful part of our history. The next day we traveled to Selma and visited the Edmund Pettis Bridge. The prejudice continues today.
Story #4. Our good friend, Robbie Fields, is from Meridian, Mississippi. She went to school with rocker Steve Forbet. We visited the Meridian Walk of Fame looking for Steve’s star but could not find it. But we found David Ruffin, Jerry Lee Lewis, Jimmy Buffet, and Tammy Wynette. An amazing amount of great music came out of Meridian. Per Robbie’s advice after Meridian we went down to Laural!
Last night we camped at an amazing Mississippi Campground where we enjoyed quiet, hiking and got a shower!
