Friends, Repairs & Rain

Friends, Repairs & Rain

Saturday evening at the Grand Ole RV Park the Park was rocking. Every night there is live music and we had a great time listening to local talent and eating chicken, gravy and biscuits. We did not venture into talking politics.

The next morning we headed into Nashville to attend the Nashville Friends Meeting. It was wonderful worshipping with other Friends. Kevin, Betty Ann, Buddy and Gretchen – Members of the Nashville Friends Meeting include the Potters who were Members of Westport Monthly Meeting during the 1980’s and they send their best to each of you.

After Friends Meeting we decided to brave Nashville thinking who would be in downtown Nashville on a Sunday morning – everyone! After one cruise through town, Stargazer suggested we Hit the Road Jack and we headed into the country and found Montgomery Bell State Park where we hiked the Wildcat Trail for Walter “WC” Cotter and marveled at a statue titled Rugged Ray, reminding us of good Buddy Ray “LPP” Villanova.

We were on the road the next morning by 6 am to bring Stargazer into the Nashville Mercedes-Benz to repair the left wheel speed sensor. After a “diagnosis” multiple other issues were identified. Seven hours later all problems were fixed but the sensor, as they did not have the part. A quick swipe of our credit card and now we will be eating beans and franks the rest of the trip.

From Mercedes-Benz we drove to Memphis. The pothole noises were painful for Otto and the rains fell hard! After multiple closed roads, we finally arrived at our State Park outside of Memphis, where we poured a few drinks and recovered. Due to the Mercedes-Benz delay we had to cancel our visit to Graceland!

Another early morning departure as we headed from Memphis to Texarkana, AR, Otto’s hometown. We are staying at the Millwood State Park where we had a great nature hike and showers. Tomorrow we head to Sweetwater, Texas to have dinner with longtime pal, John “JK” Kirby.

So far on the trip we have listened to The Wager and watched One Day. Both get thumbs up!

  1. What a trip. You did miss two feet of snow here this weekend. My car is still buried.
I made it home hospital on Monday night and am learning the ropes at home.hope Otto enjoys his home turf.
    Hang in there…

  2. So sorry about the repair glitches. So you didn’t get to the Memphis National Civil Rights Museum – Lorraine Hotel where MLK was shot? – even Eric who doesn’t like museums thought it was a highlight. Hope the trip smooths out now that Stargazer is all fixed up.

  4. Yikes! That’s a long day, waiting to get Stargazer fixed! 🙁 Too bad about Graceland.
