Piston Pegs Keeps On Pumping

On Friday we traveled from Lake Champlain to Canada passing through Montreal and arriving at St. Jerome. We stayed in very close quarters at Lac Fontaine Campground – so close we could hear the guy next to us snoring!

Saturday morning we headed out to bike Le P’Tit Train Du Nord bike path, but unfortunately took a right instead of a left and first enjoyed five miles of countryside. Finally we figured out our mistake and made it to our starting point after first dodging St. Jerome cars. Led by Piston Pegs Melinda, we biked a total of 45 miles. The bike path was great for biking and the views OK (nothing like Lake Champlain biking), but both of us were tired at the end. Getting back to Lac Fontaine Campground included a few illegal road crossings and sneaking through a Walmart back storage area!

Preparing to keep up with Piston Pegs!

We arrived back at our campground late afternoon, relaxed and prepared for a long night’s rest. Unbeknown to us every Saturday night at Lac Fontaine Campground is Techno Music Night with techno music blasting until 11 pm – even drowning out the snorer!

Sunday morning we packed up early and hit the road. Lots of beautiful back country roads, as well as a loop around Quebec City. Then we followed the St. Lawrence River to Camping Chez Jean in Saint-Antonine where we are one of two transient campers spending the evening.

Stargazer is better than ever, including carrying over 250 pounds of bikes and a bike carrier system.

Monday we head off the grid. We will be at a remote campsite for two days at Mount Carleton Provincial Park. No electric. No water. Most likely no Internet. We will be back online later this week.
