OMG
After a last cup of Tim Horton’s coffee (Melinda) and hot chocolate (Greg), we headed to Baxter State Park, the home of Mount Katahdin. While driving we prepared for Park activities and learned that pets were not allowed at Baxter State Park, so we shifted gears and headed to Katahdin Woods & Waters National Monument, the home of a 17 mile bike loop with great views of Mount Katahdin.
The ride into KWW was long (12 miles) and the road was full of ruts and washouts. It took us 60 minutes to get in and 45 minutes to get out. When we finally reached the loop, we were exhausted but still up for the ride. It is hard to believe that people drive the loop, as there were parts that we had to walk due to road conditions. The view of Mount Katahdin was cloud-covered, but still worth the ride.
We arrived at our campsite in Abbot, ME just before the rains started and decided to head home to Jackson on Friday.
