Home Again

Home Again

A wishing rock is a beach stone with a perfectly unbroken stripe all the way around the circumference of the rock. My grandfather, J. Harold Williams, taught me about wishing stones as we hiked the beaches of Rhode Island and Cape Cod. He always carried a wishing stone in his pocket.

The wishing stone I picked up in New Brunswick

We made it home Friday afternoon. The rains poured all the way home from Abbot, Maine and the rivers we passed were rushing like we have ever seen them flow before. The Jackson Falls were incredible. Once home we unpacked and settled back into 28 Deer Run. We celebrated our trip on our deck watching an array of different colored clouds.

Trip Highlights

  1. We traveled 2,476 miles and visited two states (New Hampshire and Maine) and two provinces (New Brunswick and Nova Scotia).
  2. Park highlights included: Acadia National Park Carriage Trails for biking, Fundy Trail Parkway both for biking and hiking and Kejimkujik National Park for biking and hiking. Also watching Bay of Fundy tides was very cool indeed.
  3. Lots of fun catching up with Jack Crowley and his family. We definitely want to get back to Nova Scotia for a much longer visit.
  4. Otto escaping as he chased a deer but finally returned when it was dinner time.
  5. Spending time with Susan Malkin and Jay Kelly.
  6. Stargazer was once again a trooper. We have a few issues we need to get checked out before winterizing Stargazer and settling Stargazer down for a long winter nap.

We are home until Friday and then hit the road to DC for some Ralph & His Gang time! Wishing you all a great holiday season.
