Paying It Forward

Paying It Forward

Starting the Free School of Clinton, a community education program for the Colleges and community, was how we met each other as well as many lifelong friends. Being able to start a business at the tender age of 19 provided us the beginnings of some very important skills. Many people at the Colleges and in the Clinton community were instrumental in the Free School’s success. While in Clinton, we reconnected with John Felner who for no cost let a bunch…

Great Friends, Amazing Views

Great Friends, Amazing Views

We wrapped up our visit with Frank and Gail Perretta with dinner at a local Greek restaurant we frequented while at Kirkland and Hamilton Colleges. The food was as good as we remembered, but we were disappointed to learn that Utica Club no longer makes Saranac Diet Root Beer. Looking forward to getting Frank (photo below with Frank in the middle) and Gail to Jackson, NH in 2022. From Clinton we headed to Syracuse where we connected for the first…

Rodney Rivers Saves the Day

Rodney Rivers Saves the Day

We have heat!!! Rodney Rivers of the RV Store in Plattsburgh, NY provided “A1, Second to None” customer service and solved our heating issue. A control panel had burnt out and had to be replaced. Rodney had one last panel in stock! We are grateful to Rodney and the RV Store Team. After our repair we traveled again through the Adirondacks on our way to Clinton, NY. We were most impressed by the many lakes and their beauty. Hopefully sometime…

Beauty & the Beast

Beauty & the Beast

Saturday was the beast. We spent the day trying to find a RV Repair Shop to solve our heating problem. We have an appointment Monday at 9 am, so hopefully we will get the heating issue fixed on time to head off to Clinton, NY and dinner with the Perretta’s and Rick Werner. We first searched for RV Repair Shops in Vermont, but then took the Ferry (see Stargazer on the Ferry below) across Lake Champlain to Plattsburgh where we…

OMG…No Heat!!!

OMG…No Heat!!!

The drive to Vermont from Jackson was stunning. We spent the morning wrapping up last minute details before hitting the road at 12:30 pm. Strargazer handled the road like a pro and we got to Lincoln, Vermont late afternoon. On the way we drove past Joe’s Pond (Bill and Debbie!!!), Stowe Mountain (the trails looked ready for skiing), and Ben and Jerry’s (Otto was sad we did not stop for a treat). Lincoln, Vermont is where Larkin Brown (Suzzy and…

Heading Home to Jackson

Heading Home to Jackson

Today Melinda, Otto and I head back to Jackson. We have had a wonderful road trip, but we are looking forward to getting home to hiking, biking and multiple yard projects. Hopefully the black fly season will be short! The past two days we have been in Rhode Island visiting with Greg’s 90-year mom, Jane. We started our trip visiting Jane and ended up back in Rhode Island. We also spent time with Greg’s brother Keith. A great way to…

Grand Time in DC

Grand Time in DC

We had a terrific time visiting with the DC Gang over the weekend. Lots of Ralph time, as well as chores, eating, and celebrating. Being with Katie, Brendan, Kim and Cory is so much fun. We are both so very lucky. Katie and Brendan cooked/grilled an amazing Easter dinner. The weather was 70 so we sat outside for drinks and dip before heading in for dinner. Melinda and I learned a great deal about organic wines and will be purchasing…

Arrived Back in DC

Arrived Back in DC

The trip back to DC from Sanibel had many highlights. Most important we spent one night in Ormand Beach, Florida with Jan and Larry Nelson, Kim’s parents. The four of us had a great time getting to know each other better. Their hospitality was A1, Second to None! From Ormand Beach we drove upon the Florida and Georgia coast ending up at Skidaway Island National Park. Had a Barred Owl spend the night over Stargazer, learned about old time distilling,…
